Habitat for Humanity continues its post-Superstorm Sandy recovery efforts in Westchester, NY with satellite technology and services provided by Hughes Network Systems, Cisco Systems, and the Global VSAT Forum (GVF.)

The neighborhood of Breezy Point in Queens, NY was one of the many locations devastated by the superstorm. Habitat for Humanity set up a command center equipped with satellite technology to coordinate the rebuilding of the residents’ homes.

The Disaster Preparedness Registry of the Global VSAT Forum assisted in the identification of support resources needed by the Habitat for Humanity command center. Hughes’ new Internet Access Solutions supplies critical satellite broadband internet and voice services. And finally, a Cisco on-site TacOps team will provide customers with a connection switch, Wi-Fi wireless Internet access, and a call manager for phones.
